Position Overview: The Housing Preservation Coordinator provides direct operational and administrative support for Milwaukee Habitat’s Housing Preservation programs. This role manages homeowner application processing, documentation, scheduling support, homeowner communication, and coordination with Construction, Family Services, and partner agencies. This position is highly customer-focused and is responsible for ensuring a smooth experience for homeowners while supporting efficient program operations.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Homeowner Intake & Application Processing
- Manage application intake, data entry, and eligibility documentation.
- Communicate with applicants regarding missing documents, next steps, and timelines.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowner questions and program inquiries.
Homeowner Communication & Support
- Conduct homeowner surveys, outreach calls, and follow-ups throughout the repair process.
- Support warranty coordination and documentation of punch-list items.
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication regarding scheduling, expectations, and next steps.
- Schedule home visits and site assessments for staff and contractors.
- Support permit submission, inspection scheduling, and construction coordination tasks.
- Assist with daily or weekly logistics coordination (materials, contractors, volunteer alignment) as assigned.
- Support the Family Services Committees by preparing agendas, notes, and follow-up materials.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required.
Project Coordination & Logistics
Documentation , Reporting & Recordkeeping
- Maintain organized digital and physical files for all homeowner cases.
- Track program participation, workshop attendance, and post-repair outcomes.
- Prepare reports and documentation required for grants, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Represent MHFH at community events to promote Housing Preservation programs.
- Actively participate in neighborhood meetings and share community resources with homeowners.
- Provide homeowners with referrals to community services, safety programs, and neighborhood supports.
- Support AmeriCorps, volunteers, and interns assigned to Housing Preservation work.
- Assist with drafting program materials, communications, and policy updates.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Associate degree preferred; experience working with homeowners or social services strongly considered. Minimum of 1–3 years experience in customer service, case coordination, construction administration, or nonprofit program support.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual skills a plus (preferred but not required).
- Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Capable of managing projects, processes, deadlines, and a budget while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Strong personal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, and initiative.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining positive regard for others.
- Ability to articulate Milwaukee Habitat’s mission and the critical need for safe, decent and affordable housing in Milwaukee to donors, prospects, volunteers and other stakeholders.
